407 ETR Rate Increase Equals More Lanes and Faster Trips

Toronto, December 29, 2006

407 ETR announced today that light-vehicle tolls during peak hours will increase on February 1, 2007, by 1.35 cents per kilometre. This increase will help the company invest in more lanes so customers can continue to experience faster trips.

“Our customers want toll rates that balance affordability with keeping the highway relatively free of congestion,” said Antonio de Santiago, President and Chief Executive Officer of 407 ETR. “To keep customers moving, we’ve added over 80 kilometres of new lanes in the past four years.

“We’ve already opened 53 kilometres of new lanes in 2006. In 2007, we’re going to add another 50 kilometres of new lanes between Highways 427 and 401,” said de Santiago. The $90 million project between Highways 427 and 401 will require over 90,000 cubic metres of concrete and more than 200,000 hours of labour.

The peak rate for light vehicles (cars, motorcycles and SUVs) will be 17.6 cents per kilometre. 407 ETR will continue to offer lower rates when the highway is used during “off-peak”, non-rush hour periods. The off-peak rate for light vehicles will be 16.8 cents per kilometre.

Rates for heavy single unit vehicles (trucks) and heavy multiple unit vehicles (18-wheel trucks) will be 35.2 cents per kilometre and 52.8 cents per kilometre, respectively. Off-peak rates for heavy single and heavy multiple vehicles will be 33.6 cents per kilometre and 50.4 cents per kilometre, respectively.

Over 750,000 satisfied customers use a transponder to save money on every trip. To encourage even more customers to use a transponder, 407 ETR announced that it will continue to waive the $10 Transponder Activation Fee throughout 2007.

407 ETR Concession Company Limited (“407 ETR”) is the operator and manager of Highway 407, which extends 108 kilometres east-west, just north of Toronto. 407 International Inc., the sole shareholder of 407 ETR, is owned by a consortium comprised of Cintra Concesiones de Infraestructuras de Transporte, Macquarie Infrastructure Group and SNC-Lavalin.
