Drivers Jump Started Long Weekend and Set One-Day Traffic Record on 407 ETR

TORONTO, October 10, 2006

407 ETR announced today that it has set a new, one-day traffic record on its toll highway north of Toronto. On Friday, October 6, a record 423,434 trips were taken on 407 ETR by those wanting to avoid congestion and jump start their holiday weekend. This beat the previous record of 413,687 trips, set on June 30, 2005.

“407 ETR provides a fast, safe and reliable way for drivers to get around the GTA,” said Antonio de Santiago, President and CEO of 407 ETR. “And, with the addition of 50 kilometres of new lanes between Highways 427 and 404, we’ve improved drivers’ commute to work and their weekend outings. We’ll continue to use toll revenue to increase lanes and improve service both on and off the highway.”

407 ETR invested over $60 million this year to add 50 kilometres of new lanes, and is investing another $30 million on widening bridge structures between Highways 401 and 427, in preparation for additional lanes along that section in 2007.

407 International Inc. is the sole shareholder, operator and manager of 407 ETR, which extends 108 kilometres east-west, just north of Toronto. 407 International Inc. is owned by a consortium comprised of the Canadian subsidiary of Cintra Concesiones de Infraestructuras de Transporte (co-owned by Grupo Ferrovial and Australian-headquartered Macquarie Infrastructure Group) and Canadian-based SNC-Lavalin.
