407 ETR transforms commutes and drives efficiency and productivity in Ontario

Highway 407 ETR plays an important role in alleviating congestion in the GTA
With the gridlock issues facing the GTA today, our service has never been more important. We're working hard to keep traffic free flowing, and attracting more drivers in sections of the Highway that can afford a bit more traffic – without disrupting the world-class driving experience that motorists rely on.

Each week, Highway 407 ETR moves more than three million people – the size of Toronto’s population or the Regions of Peel and York, combined.

Since 1999, we’ve invested approximately $2 billion toward highway extensions, expansions and customer service.

In the second quarter of 2025, we averaged 405,195 trips on workdays. At its busiest hours, the central portion of Highway 407 ETR is already at 90% capacity.

Highway 407 ETR moves millions of trucks and public transit buses every year.

Tolls as a tool for reducing congestion
