Collections Code of Conduct
407 ETR Collections & Code of Conduct
407 ETR is an all-electronic, open-access toll highway without booths or barriers. This design was chosen by the Government to improve traffic flow and to reduce congestion. Because there are no barriers, 407 ETR cannot stop someone from using the highway – even if they are significantly in debt.
While most customers pay their bills, there are some people who use the highway and refuse to pay. That‘s unfair to paying customers and the company.
To collect from individuals who have not paid their bills on time, 407 ETR uses traditional methods, including internal collections and third-party collection agencies, similar to other companies. In addition, 407 ETR can request the Registrar of Motor Vehicles to deny the renewal of existing licence plates and the issuance of new plates.
407 ETR has developed a Collections Code of Conduct. The Code outlines the practices that the company employs to collect unpaid amounts. It details the collections process from start to finish, including the opportunity for customers to take a dispute to an Ombudsman.
